Plans are underway for the summer group show, Echoes of Wilderness, Water, and Wonder, running July 18–August 10. Some members are still exploring ideas, while others are already creating. Looking ahead, an all-day art conference is scheduled for October 25 at the Bluefin. It will include a guest speaker and hands-on workshops. Got topic ideas? Reach out to James!

    Christmas in Spring

Kathy R has been working on pottery pieces for the annual show; feels she hasn’t arrived at a design yet.  Her diversion is making items for Christmas.

    Mary’s Creative Detour

Mary’s 100-day project took a turn—quilts and clothing design have taken center stage. Though she hasn’t returned to the design elements yet, her creativity is flowing in other directions.

    Sketching Toward October

Mary shared progress on her class prep: 4 of 80 planned elements are done, with the rest due before her fall departure for a month of classes. Her process involves cut-fabric shape studies exploring tension and dynamic movement.

    Pastels in Plein Air

Kathy Fox Weinberg dove into soft stick pastels—praising their speed and color vibrancy while noting the challenge of blending and edges. She’s experimenting with watercolor underpaintings and fixative for layered effects, especially useful for plein air work.

    Beth’s Wild Focus

Beth continues her eagle photography adventures, capturing stunning moments of local raptors in flight, water reflections, and wildlife scenes. She will soon visit Grand Marais, rising early and staying out late to chase the light.

    From Lens to Silver

Beth also shared her silversmithing projects—rings, studs, and simple stone pieces—many inspired by her photography. Her creative practice moves fluidly between image, metal, and design.

    Art Auction Poll

Kathy floated the idea of an online art auction to benefit a future charitable cause. Those present were in favor, pending clarity on timing and potential overlap with other fundraisers.

Next online meeting:  April 7, 11:30
