The North Shore Artists League Remote Pod and the 100 Day Project, a fun and creative challenge that’ll keep you engaged for 100 days meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month.  The 100 Day project is all about committing to doing something artistic every day, whether it’s creating, learning, sketching, marketing, writing, or even selling your work. It’s all up to you to decide what you want to focus on and make the most of this creative journey.

The Zoom meetings will be a “show and tell” where you can share your progress, get feedback, and connect with other artists. We’ll also integrate a monthly NSAL meeting for the Remote POD on the 2nd Monday meeting.  Even if you don’t participate in the 100 Day Project, you’ll still have a chance to connect with other artists and share your work.  The remote pod is open to everyone, even if it’s not your home pod.

Brief meeting notes will be in the monthly newsletter, “The Wave”, for those who can’t attend. We hope to see you there!

NSAL DULUTH/TWO HARBORS/SILVER BAY ART POD MEETING - APRIL 2025

    Sunday, April 27, 2025 - 2-4 p.m.

    United Protestant Church

17 Horn Blvd, Silver Bay, Minnesota

The North Shore Artists League Duluth/Two Harbors/Silver Bay Art Pod welcomes you to participate in a hands-on program offered by Marti Mullen.  Gell plate printing is an easy way to use print making techniques in mixed media art such as in making collage papers or finished works of art. We will explore some of the various techniques that can be used with a variety of types of papers, acrylic paint and ink and other water based mediums and inks.  We’ll also have other ways to enhance the prints with pencils, pens and even some Caran d’Ache Neocolor II’s for resists. I’ll have some examples of how these creations can be used as stand alone art or integrated into a mixed media work. We will focus on creative play and chances to see and try techniques over artistic perfection so come and join the fun. All materials will be provided and a voluntary donation jar provided if you want to help cover the costs of the materials.

Directions: Take Hwy 61 to Silver Bay.  Enter Silver Bay at the stop light and follow Outer Drive all the way until you are at the end of the High School.  Turn onto Horn Boulevard at the intersection.  The church will then be immediately on your left.  Please park in the back parking lot that opens directly into the fellowship hall.

The Duluth/Two Harbors/Silver Bay Art Pod is open to everyone, even if it’s not your home pod.

We hope to see you there!

NOTE:  In order for this pop-up to happen we need at least 10 participants.  We also need a show manager and two additional artists to support the show manager!!!

    Event Overview:

The North Shore Artists League, in partnership with Bluefin Resort, is hosting a holiday pop-up art show and sale. This event offers a prime opportunity for artists to showcase and sell their work on the busy Friday after Thanksgiving. Bluefin Resort is fully booked for the weekend, ensuring a high volume of visitors. Show hours are based on past experience from 2021-2024. Bluefin has generously offered the space at a discounted rate and is providing additional support for the event. We anticipate attracting both locals and tourists.

Event Setup: This is a cooperative League event.

       •    The show manager and committee will arrange facilities and tables for artists to display their work.
       •    Each artist will be assigned a designated space with a table and chairs.
       •    Artists are responsible for their own setup, takedown, pricing, sales, and tax collection. We recommend using a credit card swiper such as Square or PayPal.
       •    Artists are expected to volunteer for pre-, post-, or during-show tasks.
       •    If unable to set up or tear down, you must designate someone to do it for you.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

       •    Membership: Open to all members of the North Shore Artists League.  Registration fee to cover space rental and promotion is $35.  Members may register non-member guests at a fee of $50.

      •    Each artist is requested to volunteer at least two hours for show-related activities. Preferences can be indicated during registration.

    Setup Times:

       •    Friday, November 28, from 8:30-9:45 AM

    Display Area:

       •    Artists will be assigned their sales area after registration.
       •    Bluefin provides 6’ draped tables. Artists must bring any additional display fixtures.
       •    No wall space is available for 2D art. Plan to bring easels or display stands.
       •    3D artists must provide their own pedestals.
       •    There’s no limit on the number of items per artist, but displays should be tastefully arranged.
       •    Backstock can be stored under the table for replenishing sold pieces.

    Take Down:
The show ends at 3 PM on November 28, and tear down must be completed by 4 PM. Any items left behind are the responsibility of the artist.  The room needs to be left in order as before the show or as instructed by show manager.

    Fees:
The participation fee is $35 to cover the space rental and promotion. Neither the League nor Bluefin takes commissions on sales. If fewer than 10 artists register, the event may be canceled unless participants choose to cover additional costs.  Non-member invited guests may participate at a fee of $45.

    Registration:
The deadline is midnight, October 31, 2025.  Register online through the League’s website.

    Volunteer Opportunities:
Artists can choose volunteer tasks through the online registration form. A finalized list of tasks and assignments will be provided closer to the event. Time commitments are generally two hours unless otherwise specified.

    Pre-Show:

       •    Promotion, registration, space organization, and coordination with Bluefin.

    Day of Show:

       •    Guiding artists, assisting with setup and teardown, greeting customers, and staffing the League information table.

    Post-Show:

       •    Reporting and assisting with any leftover tasks.

Note: The North Shore Artists League and Bluefin Resort are not liable for any loss or damage to artwork. It is the artist’s responsibility to insure their own work if desired.
